A lab for finished intelligence.
Who we are
Capability is abundant. Dependability is not. Most of what decides whether a model can be trusted happens after pretraining, and it is usually treated as an afterthought.
Somber exists to treat that as the work itself — in the models, in the products built on them, and in the silicon they run on. Each is selected, shaped, aligned and verified deliberately, and released only when it is finished.
What we work on
- ModelsWhat a model learns from, how it behaves, how it is checked — and when it is finished.
- ProductsInterfaces built on the models: state that can be inspected, steps that are checked, failure that is designed.
- SiliconArchitecture research for intelligence workloads — compute, memory and data movement designed with the software that drives them.
- ResearchEvaluation and measurement. Every claim the lab makes is meant to be checkable, and published with what it does not show.
What finished means
The same sequence describes a model, a product, an architecture or a result. Work is listed here when it reaches the end of it — and each page says how it got there.

How we work
- 01
Select
Choose what is worth learning from. Discard the rest.
- 02
Shape
Form raw capability into deliberate structure.
- 03
Align
Lock behaviour to explicit intent, end to end.
- 04
Verify
Check every part. Publish what the checks miss.
- 05
Release
Ship it finished — then keep it working.
Principles
- 01
Finish the work.
Release is a standard, not a date.
- 02
Show the evidence.
Claims come with the measurements behind them.
- 03
State the limits.
Every release says what it cannot do.
- 04
Keep what ships.
Releases and their pages stay available for their whole lifetime.
